In contrast to what most people think that Computer Science is a difficult field, today’s most influential luminaries in the world of technology prove that studying Computer Science is but an important and easy avenue in building one’s future and career. These tech-industry titans who consist of creators/engineers/designers of websites including the world’s most famous social networking sites facebook, twitter, among others basically take the lead in kicking off the Hour of Code in the classroom all around the globe. They are Jack Dorsey (Twitter founder), Susan Wojcicki (senior vice president of Google), Gabe Newell (from the computer game company, Valve Corporation) and lastly, Bill Gates (Microsoft owner and founder).
The Hour of Code is a special advocacy whose primary objective is to give every member of our young generation the opportunity to learn, appreciate and spread the knowledge on coding and programming. This is also in line with the celebration of the Computer Science Education Week which was last observed on December 9-15 this year, 2013.
Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental is no exception from those that promote the Hour of Code. The ICT Association of Dumaguete and Negros Oriental has been inviting all elementary and secondary schools to participate in the campaign.
Foundation University, for one, with its established iPad program these past few years, is one of those who participated in the Hour of Code. Computer instructors and computer science students spent at least an hour teach students how to code and make a program.
With the advent of technology and the ubiquity of computers in almost all aspects of living, plus the addition of human’s constant thirst for knowledge, having the Hour of Code as part of the educational system is one of the greatest ideas our ICT experts have ever created in order for kids to get hooked on codes which is the best way towards shaping up their future.
