A few years ago, while in deep thought on what to do once I got back home to help take care of my aging mother, an idea sparked up about putting waste to good use…once again. This was just before leaving employment in the corporate world where a similar idea garnered a US Patent grant.
The concentration of my idea was more on waste from farms. Negros Oriental is abundant in coconuts and coconut farms sprawl to the edge of one’s sight, at a level just below sugar cane fields. This how LaZaBu Nut Derivatives started, a project at first…
The concept of putting coconut waste to good use undeniably already exists. Conventional machineries are everywhere and are fabricated anywhere but there is one thing in common: huge power prime drive requirement. Hence, the design improvement came next unto the drawing board.
The Machine Outcome:
An 11hp gasoline engine was installed prototyping the fiber /peat output single-pass performance which met the design expectation, therefore, the upgrade to an 18hp diesel engine with extreme consideration for fuel cost.
2012 – Drafting, evaluation and firming up the final design of the decorticating machine
2013 – The early part of the year was spent fabricating the machine in Lapulapu City with the completed unit to have been moved to the site in Negros Oriental in November of same year.
2014 – Was spent in the debugging and commissioning of the Decorticating machine. The designing and installation of the Weaving machine and the other relative machines came next while the rest of the year was spent on the conceptualization of the Lazabu Eco-Friendly Charcoal.
2015 – A complete production-capable facility is in-place.
