DUMAGUETE CITY—The City Government of Dumaguete received an award as one of the Top 10 New Wave Cities for outsourcing locations in the Philippines. The recognition was given by The Information and Communications Technology Office and the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines for being one of the Top 10 Next Wave Cities for the year 2012.
Dumaguete City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria, received the plaque of recognition for Dumaguete City during the awarding ceremony on May 20,2013 at Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati City, PhilippinesLouis Napoleon Casambre, Executive Director DOST-ICTO and Jose Mari Mercado, President IBPAP signed the plaque of recognition.
The recognition is a testament to the hardwork, determination, and spirit of cooperation among its stewards and leaders to develop their jurisdiction as an environment conducive to well-managed business growth and ICT development in Dumaguete City.
The Information and Communications Technology Office (DOST) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) was created through Executive Order (EO) 47 which transferred the former Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) from the Office of the President to the DOST.
The ICTO is tasked to be the lead implementing agency of Government in all most of its ICT related efforts such as industry development, policy formulation, ICT infrastructure development, R&D, ICT capacity building for the public sector and administration of the E-Governance Fund.(PIO-DUMAGUETE)
